New postage rates take effect on Monday (May 14th). I always marveled at how easy it was to send a letter of any size. You basically weighed it and then determined the postage rate, regardless of the size and shape. Here is a summary of the changes from CNN:
• For the first time, the U.S. Postal Service will be charging by the shape of the mail
• New rates, shape, thickness guidelines begin Monday
• Some businesses say mailings could be severely curtailed due to higher postage
